Apologetics and Evidence

I hear the following kinds of phrases frequently, and most often from those who hold to a prosperity gospel  or who are somehow influenced by such: “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus, Satan…” “…in the name of Jesus, go back to the pit where you belong…” “I will rebuke Satan for your healing.” I question if we, as Christians, have such power to rebuke Satan. Something you might find interesting is that the Bible never says that we do have this power, but it does say something else very interesting concerning such… I want to jump right into this and see what the Bible says. Throughout history, there have been a number of people with all different types of theological backgrounds who try to refute the orthodox views found in the Bible. There are people all the way from Jehovah’s Witnesses , to Mormonism to Evangelicalism who do not adhere to the truth found in the Bible. In any event, no one is capable of perfect theology, and for this reason, one’s ideas and such must be lined up with the Word of God.  It is this compass with which truth shall be revealed and fortunately for us, the Word of God is unchanging, and for good reason. The danger of unorthodox, false teachings and doctrines can lead someone astray from salvation and hinder someone from realizing God’s love. With this in mind, it seems to be a necessary duty to correct, rebuke and exhort with great patience and long suffering.
