Abortion is quite strange. One of
the main arguments I hear for it is that it is good because the mother is unable to afford or to
take care of the baby. But everyone knows about adoption. So what now? Another
argument I hear is that women will have abortions if Roe v Wade is reversed in
back alleys and such, so we shouldn’t reverse it. But when is it ok to murder a
baby? Is it ok to murder a baby when women will be getting infections because
they have unsterile environments for abortion? Seriously? Please tell me a
better reason, a more convincing reason when killing babies is ok.
Something else I have to mention
is that it seems that pro-choice adherents think that pro-lifers and
abolitionists believe that the baby is of more value than the woman, but this
is not the case. The idea is simple. Both the mother and the baby inside her
are human, therefore they have the same value.
I think of abortion like Bulimia
Nervosa. What do those who have this disorder do when they binge on
food? They abort it. The food does not go through the process that it is meant
to, and instead is reversed and the nutritional value of the food is removed. The
food is something that does not have blood running through its veins with a heartbeat
and having C-fibers, and it is considered a very serious disorder when our friends and
loved ones have this issue. Yet when the exact same thing happens when women
have unprotected, careless, casual sex, they are binging on a moment of pleasure, and then they
purge the result of that pleasure, and pro-choice adherents do not bat an eye.
In fact, it is much the opposite of this. They praise people for having an
abortion.
Bulimia is a disorder where people
have an issue with their image; with their weight. They feel the need to eat
because they are desperate to eat and have the feeling of a full stomach, yet they
also need to feel good about themselves. They feel that they need to not be
fat, whatever they perceive as such. But they want to have their cake and eat it, too. The similarities between bulimia and abortion is uncanny. Yet only one of the two is perceived as a disorder.
A person can have a clue about their
friends having bulimia by their eating habits. I do not mean the obvious eating
habits, because it is likely that someone with bulimia will hide their actions
from everyone especially close to them for fear of damaging their precious image
of themselves. But when friends are eating at a restaurant and one of them
steps aside after eating most of the appetizer to go to the restroom alone,
then comes back and eats a full meal, then goes to the bathroom again, chances
are, you should probably refuse them the opportunity to go to the bathroom
alone.
Most American adults probably know
the consequences of bulimia. It is normally done in an unsterile environment (like a toilet bowl or garbage can) and often ruins teeth and esophagus’s, causes bad breath and makes
those with the disorder want even more food. But what if it was done in a sterile
environment? What if people went to the hospital to have their stomach pumped
and no real harm came to them? Would it be ok then? Absolutely not. We would
still look at it as very strange. Why then do we not look at abortion in the same
way?
As far as the way the world is
going with all of the paleo-diets and eating things that are healthy and
natural, and everything else that points to a healthy, natural lifestyle,
abortion is most unnatural! There is nothing good about it.
Even in an ectopic pregnancy, which is rare, it should not be dismissed as no
big deal. We know that common feelings after an ectopic pregnancy can include
shock, grief and anxiety. People do not grieve and experience shock for no
reason.
In any event, having an abortion
is much like bulimia nervosa, which is what everyone calls a disorder. We should be looking at these in the same manner. I don’t want to leave it there, however. I think that there
is a reason that people are indoctrinated into believing that the baby growing
inside a mother is just a fetus (a word we use to disassociate and detach
ourselves from the possibility of a human baby). It seems to me that because we
so desperately try to detach ourselves with the human life proves to us all
that abortion is wrong. We acknowledge that abortion is wrong by simply arguing
that the baby inside a woman is not human. If it were human, then we would be
murderers. So it must be a fetus. We change the language in order to ease our conscience,
but in reality, it is still simply a baby. Sadly, because it is a baby, we are in fact, murderers.
The reason we do these things is
because we are doing exactly what the Bible says will happen: “For the time
will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit
their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to
say what their itching ears want to hear” –2 Timothy 4:3. This is called confirmation bias. This is what people turn to in order to get what they want. This is why people call the baby a fetus.
Please be concerned about this
issue. Discuss abortion with your friends and family and know the arguments for
and against abortion. Keep it on the discussion table.
I also want to offer something to
those who have had an abortion or even struggle with bulimia: Jesus loves you and He wants you to know Him.
He wants you to know what forgiveness feels like. He wants you to know what it
is to be grateful. All He wants is your trust and
hope and belief in Him. The Bible teaches that we all fall short of God’s glory
(Romans 3:23). This is a huge problem! We cannot pull ourselves up by our own
boot straps, so we need to be rescued from this ocean of moral failures that we
find ourselves drowning in. The Bible teaches that the reason why we die (the
death rate is 1/1) is because this is the cost of our moral failures. Everyone
who has had an abortion or purged food (among any other things) is a person who
has had a moral failure. The Bible calls our moral failures, sin.
But this is not yet the end of the
news. The reason the gospel is called the Good News, is because the gift of God
is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). Through Jesus we
have forgiveness for our moral failures (sins) and when we die, we will live
with Him for eternity in heavenly bliss. Please make a decision to turn away from
your moral failures today (Acts 2:38), increase in holiness (2 Peter 1), and trust in Jesus
alone to be your personal savior (John 14:6). Talk to Him. Cry out to Him. Thank
Him. Praise His holy name.
"Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness,
but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from
death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument
of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace" —Romans 6:12-14
